1. Privacy Policy
aequitas labs LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates Bao, a baby-tracking app (the "Service"). Bao helps parents and caregivers record and share information about their own children. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum needed to run the app, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Information we collect
- Account data: your email address (used for passwordless sign-in) and your display name.
- Child & care data you enter: child names, birth dates, avatars, and the logs you record — feeds, sleep, diapers, potty training, growth measurements, health/medication notes, and milestones. This can include health-related information about your child.
- Family/sharing data: family membership, invitations, and caregiver roles.
- Device data for notifications: push notification tokens for the devices you sign in on (used to sync timers and to sign you out across devices).
- Limited diagnostics: crash and error reports to keep the app working. We strip child names and log contents from these before they leave the app.
How we use your information
- To provide the app: store and sync your logs across your devices and co-caregivers.
- To send sign-in codes, deliver timer and notification updates, and process optional purchases.
- To diagnose problems and keep the Service secure and available.
Data sharing and subprocessors
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with third-party service providers ("Subprocessors") required to operate Bao:

Family & shared caregivers
Bao lets you create or join a "Family" to track a child together with co-caregivers.
- Internal sharing: members you invite (for example a partner or grandparent) can view and add the child and care data in that Family, according to their role.
- Consent: by joining a shared Family, you consent to sharing your data with the other members of that Family.
- Control: the Family admin controls member access and can remove members at any time.
External AI assistants (user-directed sharing)
Bao can act as a data source for AI assistants (for example Claude or ChatGPT) through our integration. We do not internally process your data using AI models.
If you choose to connect an external AI assistant to your Bao account (via API key or OAuth):
- You explicitly authorize us to transmit the child and care data the assistant requests to that third-party AI provider.
- Once data leaves our infrastructure, it is governed by that AI provider's privacy policy.
- We are not responsible for how external AI assistants use, store, or generate output based on your data. You can revoke access at any time from Settings.
Children's data
Bao is used by parents and caregivers to record information about their own children. Accounts are for adults; we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The child information you enter is yours — you can edit, export, or delete it at any time. Because this data can include health information about your child, we treat it as sensitive and limit access to the caregivers you add.
Your rights, export & deletion
You can export your data at any time from the app as a PDF report (for your pediatrician) or a CSV file. You can delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account, your children, and all logs and devices associated with it. Depending on your family setup you may be asked to transfer or remove other caregivers first; an option to permanently erase the shared family and its data is also offered. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, port, or delete your data under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA — contact us to exercise them.
International transfers
We and our subprocessors are based in the United States, and your data is processed there. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for transfers of data out of your region.
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, associated data is removed from our active systems; routine backups age out on their normal cycle.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including TLS/SSL for data in transit, encryption of sensitive tokens at rest, and strict access controls for internal operations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
2. Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Bao, a baby-tracking app by aequitas labs LLC. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not use the Service.
Your account
You must be an adult to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for the accuracy of the information you enter. Sign-in is passwordless via a one-time code sent to your email.
Acceptable use
Use Bao only for tracking your own family's information. Don't misuse the Service, attempt to access other families' data, or disrupt the app. You are responsible for safeguarding your API keys and for caregivers you invite to your Family.
Not medical advice
BAO IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.
Bao helps you record and review information about your child. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Any information surfaced by the Service — or by AI assistants you connect to it — may not be appropriate for your situation. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
Third-party services & AI assistants
If you connect third-party tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to the Service, you assume the risks of sharing your child and care data with those tools. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy or security of third-party AI models, and their use of your data is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Purchases
Optional avatar packs are available as one-time purchases through the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe. Purchases are subject to the applicable store's terms; refunds are handled by the store of purchase. Prices and availability may change.
Availability & changes
We work to keep Bao available but provide it "as is" without warranties. We may update the app and these terms; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, aequitas labs LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service; or (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service, including any AI assistant you connect.
Apple App Store
If you download Bao from the Apple App Store, these terms are between you and aequitas labs LLC only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without respect to its conflict of laws principles.
